I want to see more DC! Taking a survey of the latest crop of DC movies it is amusing to note the they are significantly darker then their Marvel counterparts. In comics it's the reverse, Marvel reads much darker than DC. There's a reason for this, of course. DC is the older company. Now I know that Marvel does count it's inception from when it was called Timely back in 1939, but comicswise, Marvel left publishing superhero comics for a very long while before returning to it in the sixties. In the meantime, DC never left off publishing superheroes, as a consequence, DCs heroes have the fun, even cartoony, flavor of the forties and the early fifties. DC themed merchandise continue the tradition. Fun, classic and amazing would be some of the words to describe these items. Superman and Batman, in particular, are pretty much globally recognized brands in their own right. If you like the DC style then these items are for you. |
