Don't Let It Ever Be Said That The Clown Prince Of Crime Didn't Make His DCNU Debut In A New 52 First Issue

The Joker is such an intense villain that I half-expect a new series never to start with him; but to start with lesser evils, and then do a key Joker tale. Not so with the new Detective Comics - the opening salvo features the Clown Prince of Crime himself.

By the way, I've never seen a better Batman outfit than the one here. Check it out.

Just beautiful. Everything's great, the logo is a particular standout.

What I can't get a screenshot of is how effectively this issue conveys just what being Batman means to Bruce Wayne. He's thoroughly enjoying himself. What's one indicator that you love what you do? Answer: Problems look like adventures. And this is exactly how Batman reacts to "problems" like the Joker, with a take-on-the-world-and-have-fun-while-doing-it-attitude. Wonderful to read.

Going back to the Joker. I've seen a lot of demented stuff from him over the years but the excruciating face ripping he subjects himself to at the end of this issue takes the cake.

Not to end with something so ghastly, here's another shot of the costume. Note the background, a moonlit, fog enshrouded Gotham - just fantastic art.
