When Marvel first began publishing the adventures of Conan in 1970, they were not entirely sure that it would succeed. But a success it has been. In the end, the Marvel run covers 275 issues and 12 annuals and helped catapult Robert E. Howard's savage hero into a franchise encompassing books, comics and movies. Here is the collected Marvel run of Conan published by Dark Horse, the current holders of the Conan license. Many talents graced the pages of Conan over the years but most notable are Roy Thomas, who wrote many of the issues and artists Barry Windsor-Smith and John Buscema. This trade paperback collection doesn't quite cover the entire run just yet, only up to issue 181 and a handful of annuals.
The world of Conan, it has been said (by Lin Carter I think), is a world were the men are strong, the women are beautiful and life is a dangerous, breathtaking adventure. Enjoy!
