Cooking Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Create dough by combining sugar, salt, water and 1 cup of flour in a bowl.
  3. Add yeast-water mix to the dough.
  4. Add flour to a flat surface and knead the dough on top of it.
  5. Knead until dough is soft and elastic.
  6. Line a bowl with a small amount of grease.
  7. Put the dough in the greased bowl.
  8. Cover grease bowl with a damp cloth.
  9. Let the dough rise to twice its original size.
  10. Punch down the dough to remove the air inside it.
  11. Divide the dough in halves of equal size.
  12. Shape the dough into a long cylinder shape tapered at the ends.
  13. Grease a bread tray and dust with cornmeal.
  14. Put the dough on the bread tray.
  15. Cover the bread until it again doubles in size.
  16. Make diagonal slices on top of the bread.
  17. Brush the bread with eggwhite.
  18. Dust the bread with cornmeal.
  19. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  20. Bake bread for 20 minutes.
  21. You're baguette is now ready!
