Those who rave about Love and Rockets typically refer to the entire body of work, the 'world' of Love and Rockets. Like fans refer to the 'world' of Star Wars or the 'world' of Lord of the Rings. So if you're getting into it, be prepared to read a bunch of stories before you 'get it'.

The series is written and drawn by Jaime and Gilbert Hernandes. Both are writer/artists. Personally, I think that Love and Rockets succeeds because of the artistic integrity of Los Bros Hernandes. They are true to their vision for the comic book; unswayed by editorial dictates or perceived reader preferences. Along the way, they have created something unique and engaging. Stories that are appreciated by a lot - not all, mind you - but a lot, of comics lovers.
