I just mentioned in the comment for the previous issue that Thor and the Hulk are in an informal, and perhaps eternal, fanboy contest that has them vying for the title of Marvel's most powerful character. Last issue was a Thor issue; he gets to obliterate a mountain using his Uru hammer, Mjolnir. This issue is a Hulk issue. He gets to lift a whole mountain range! Shades of the future World War Hulk!
Did I neglect to tell you that there is a potential leadership conflict among the villains? Doctor Doom is an early claimant for the position of leader, or, since this is Doom - the self-proclaimed villain king of sorts.
Well, there is another personage that isn't use to taking orders from anyone : Kang the Conqueror. Kang himself is a very interesting character. He's a time traveler who has worn many guises : Pharaoh Rama-Tut, Kang, and Immortus. Rama-Tut is the Kang of the past, of ancient Egypt. Immortus is the more sedate master of Limbo - Marvel's time vortex - the future Kang. Kang also has links to Dr. Doom. Doom is Kang's ancestor. All this doesn't stop Latveria's monarch from destroying Kang. Dont' worry about Kang though, this time master has got a lot of other "back-up" selves scattered in different places and times.
